Nokia Lumia Black software update started rolling out

Much awaited software update Nokia Lumia Black for Lumia Windows Phone users has started rolling out yet to only limited devices, Nokia Lumia 1020 and Nokia Lumia 925.

Nokia Lumia Black software update brings a lot of new features to the Windows Phone devices holding the manufacturing label of Nokia. Key features include the folder organizing, Bluetooth LE support, even improved Glance Screen with the version 2.0 and Nokia Beamer.

App Folder: Well this feature is actually an app in the Windows Phone store which let you organize your apps on the start screen in folders.

Nokia Glance Screen version 2.0: is now capable to show more notifications including phone calls, messages, email, outlook, calendar or any apps that interacts with notifications. These include Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, or games; always visible at a glance on your screen.

Bluetooth LE. Will now be enabled across the full Windows Phone 8 Lumia range for compatible gadgets like the Adidas MiCoach accessories. That means more brands and products which can interact with Bluetooth devices can develop apps to work with Nokia Lumia devices.

Nokia Refocus: Well this is really an important feature that now reaches all Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices with 1GB of RAM or more. We have reviewed Nokia Refocus in detail you sure want to read that.

Nokia Beamer: Already available on Windows Phone store for limited devices that features the possibility of beaming documents, images, presentations or anything to any HTML5 enabled screen by simply scanning QR code on the screen. From now on, it will come to all Windows Phone 8 devices with 1GB of RAM or more.

Nokia Story Teller:  Debuted late last year with Nokia Lumia 1520 and Lumia 2520, the app is available for other Windows Phone devices. The app arranges your photos for you, by date and by place, making it easier to tell the stories behind your pictures, and give extra context through the close integration of interactive maps.

Nokia Camera: The most important to talk about is of course the imaging part of the software update. We knew the DNG raw images support first came with Lumia 1520, is now making appearance for the pioneer camera smartphone Nokia Lumia 1020 – we’ll sure want to do more with it. If you are into photography than you would know what raw images are usually used for. For users, it’s something that along with the JPEG images, your camera produces raw untouched photos as captured by it and you get access to the that original visual information to work with on your computer.

In addition the the Nokia Camera will now be coming to other Windows Phone 8 devices. Raw DNG support will only be available for Nokia Lumia 1020.

The software update also improves the image quality, especially in Lumia 1020 that includes new oversampling algorithm, making the images more natural looking with reduced noise as well as sharp images.

Additional features with Lumia Black software update are a series of enhancements from Microsoft to Nokia Lumia smartphones including safe driving mode, customized ringtones for each contact. You can now also close apps within the multitasking view and lock the screen rotation if you wish – that’s what I always wanted.

Well these features with Lumia Black software update sounds promising. New App Folders and the ability to kill apps in multitasking are appealing. I’ve already put the in-house Lumia 1020 on update and yet eager to see what it brings.

As for now the Nokia Lumia Black software update is only rolling out to Nokia Lumia 1020 and Nokia Lumia 925. In coming weeks the software update is promised to be rolled to other Nokia Lumia devices.
