Finally as the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich – ICS” along with the new Galaxy Nexus has been announced in Hong Kong, the lots of congratulations, wishes and news have been outed from every single mouth. As well a question from many of the current users is that if they will get new Android 4.0 aka ICS on their current devices? Well it’s still is a question and no official words are out from Google else than the availability of ICS on Android 2.3 including Nexus S.
Engadget: We’ve just heard straight from Google’s Gabe Cohen that the Nexus S will definitely be getting ICS. In fact, both he and Matias Duarte think most Gingerbread devices will see an upgrade, saying: “Currently in the process for releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S. Theoretically should work for any 2.3 device.”

As it’s naturally true that fans of a brand used to be happy from every next launch no matter what it gives in addition as well as non-fans of that brand generally do not use to be happy, instead they start pinpointing what’s bad and what’s borrowed from their favourite brand.

- Swiping between menus instead of tapping them is Metro
- action bar is copied from wp7 (especially making it common between apps, is exactly what Metro is)
- photo album UI looks exactly like WP7 gallery
- contact groups is from WP7
- people app is direct copy of wp7 people’s hub
- folder creation method (dragging two icons together to make a folder) is from iOS
- Lock screen to camera is from WP7/iOS (which iOS copied from WP7)
- switching reply method between email/sms/call in contact card is WP7 (Actually, webOS did that 1st –ed.)
Well if talking seriously, Daniel Rubino has pointed some real reasons what and why he or his reader could see these similarities and compared them.
But let me tell you a thing. “It’s only my point of view” that whatever you see in daily, weekly or monthly updates or may be a year later update, mostly you see what you think you have seen in another device or devices. True because they see something better in others and want to implement in their own products. Because users (the customers, the sources of their income and profit) want those new things in their favourite brands.
I can’t object on these facts of copying or borrowing from other platforms because Innovations do not come in daily basis or in months. It takes years for an innovation to be happen with its full form.
What changed the mobile phones into today’s smartphones? (that’s the innovation)
Yeah! the first iPhone did it back in 2007. I know you will say that. Well that’s true, today we see the extensions or upgraded versions of the UI features we came to know about in 2007 that made every other mobile manufacturer think and make new things following iPhone (No one headed next for something new and repeating the same thing in their own way.) In fact what Apple is doing since then even in iOS5. Copying and borrowing from Android’s and WP7 additions?
The only thing since then, which changed something in real in my opinion, is the N9 with MeeGo. It is really different in use than iPhone, Android or Symbian. I couldn’t have any comments on it until I used it myself (still using).

It’s really a unique design from inside and outside with absolutely no doubt.
Simple is that. It’s fact and it’s natural. The only one reason we do in our blogs is to put some attractive content to get hits and comments no matter they are negative or positive. Yes! you will say that’s the same thing I am trying to do here.
