Microsoft brings Atari Arcade gaming to web with HTML5 Browsers

Microsoft, with Atari and Grant Skinner (gskinner.com), has just launched Atari Arcade with eight of the most popular Atari games that include Pong, Combat, Lunar Lender, Super Breakout, Yars’ Revenge, Asteroids, Missile Command, and Centipede. Nevertheless Microsoft has taken the initiative to add additional support to market its new Windows 8 powered tablets with Internet Explorer 10, these classic arcade games will run on all modern browsers with support of HTML5. – Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 PC will also be useful for playing the listed games- 

While announcing, Windows Team Blog (WTB) has also taken some words to recall the history when Atari released its first game named “Pong”.

It was summer of 1972 when Atari released its first arcade game – Pong. It was revolutionary entertainment, launching Atari to quickly become the definitive gaming platform of its era, selling 30 million Atari 2600 consoles. Most modern, successful video game franchises are still inspired by Atari’s original creative concepts.

The thing is not only for players. Atari SDK has also been made available for developers to start building your own games for Atari Arcade platform. Libraries and Tutorials are also available as well as complete code can be found on IE GitHub repository.

So do you remember what was the first game console you brought home and played on your TV? I do. yes of course I remember those days when I used to turn on the console and TV and start playing the games I loved always when I got back home from school.
