Android 7.1.1 Nougat started rolling out, General Mobile 4G Android One is among the first devices

Being an Android One smartphone – General Mobile 4G, as supposed to receive latest Android releases, is now reported to have started receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat software update over the air which is said to contain the latest December 2016 security patches.

General Mobile 4G was launched during mid-2016 in Pakistan with Android 6.0 out-of-the box. While the most recent shipment of the GM 4G were already running Android 7, now it’s being reported that users already had the device have started receiving the 7.1.1 Nougat software update via OTA.

For GM 4G users, as the software has been headed to the devices, you being the owner of the said smartphone might get the notification on your phone anytime soon. As screenshot of the software update from the phone was shared by androguider, the update package is around 240MB when updating from 7.0 to 7.1.1 Nougat.

Android 7.1.1 software update also contains the December security patches (not officially announced yet) which are due to be listed on Android security bulletin, you can see from the screenshot above. This update would also be reaching to other eligible devices including the latest Google Pixel and Pixel XL (form 7.1 to 7.1.1), Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and a few other if not already.

The General Mobile is a Turkish smartphone brand that this year dropped in the Pakistani market and sold via online retailers. The device originally was launched in Turkey in mid-2015. So now when it has already spent around 18 months which is the time span agreed by manufacturers for how long they would provide software support, you should expect this update to be the last one.
