Honor 8 will get Android 7 Nougat update with EMUI 5.0 in February 2017

Honor 8 going to be the first smartphone under the brand name that will get Android 7 Nougat software update with Huawei’s Emotion UI 5.0 which has only been shipped in the latest Mate 9 smartphone recently.

After having gone through the beta test phase for over a month among a few Honor 8 owners selected by XDA, Huawei has confirmed that Android 7 will be rolled out to Honor 8 publicly in February 2017.

Despite that Huawei’s Android skin has always been through reservations by varios type of users, I personally didn’t hate EMUI as people might have hated. However Huawei has thought seriously about the damage that have caused them trouble always due to its software and hired Abigail Sarah Brody – former Apple designer for the full rework on its Emotion User Interface. EMUI 5.0 is the first build that came as a revamped version of Huawei’s Android skin in Mate 9 smartphone.

Huawei maintains its traditional user interface in EMUI 5 for people who had no objections – like me perhaps, but another UI is an option to choose by the user where the whole look and feel converts back to the likes of Android with the most demanded feature of App Drawer for people who believed the previous EMUI was more like iOS. The UI can be switched from the settings > home screen styles between “standard” and “drawer”.

For your interest, EMUI 5 features machine learning to dynamically optimize processing resources by analysing user’s behaviour and manipulating the interface accordingly. Other features include parallel profiles for different environments, enhanced security, intelligent power management with a variety of power saving modes, etc.
