Samsung Galaxy S8 will reportedly feature Sony Batteries

Following the disaster of Galaxy Note 7, Samsung now seems to be too conscious with its future smartphones. The Korean giant, which has already delayed the launch of Galaxy S8 going off-track of its usual launch dates, is now reported to use Sony batteries with Galaxy S8.

Samsung recently declared “batteries” to be the cause of Galaxy Note 7 failures holding two battery suppliers as responsible as well ruling out the company’s hardware and software from being the reason behind the exploding incidents.

The smartphone maker also has formed battery advisory group of external advisers along with implementing multi-layer safety measures with 8-point Battery Safety Check System. The company also decided to outsource battery production to a variety of manufacturers. The recent update just named one of the many-to-be battery providers — Sony, as reported by the Wall Street

WSJ claimed, citing sources familiar with the matter, in addition to Amperex and its own subsidiary Samsung SDI, Korean giant has also contracted Sony to provide lithium-ion batteries for Galaxy S8. The report suggests, however, the order placed with Sony is proportionally smaller than the other two providers.

Even though the Korean giant is a direct rival to the Japanese technology vendor, it won’t be first client for Sony to provide equipment. It has provided various components such as batteries and cameras for smartphones to various other companies.

Well, There is nothing to wonder anyway, as Samsung itself is a provider of different components including displays to several other smartphone makers, like Apple. Rumors suggest that the Korean giant will provide OLED displays for upcoming iPhone 8.
