Galaxy Note8 - Camera Live Focus

Samsung’s latest Galaxy Note 8 has just received the top marks for its camera performance, as trialed by DxOMark recently. Note 8 now shares the top rank with Apple’s iPhone 8 Plus with a total score of 94.

DxOMark seems to have opportunities from the phone makers, not to promote them for sure but, to test their phone cameras prior to the launch. Previously we have it when the camera experts released the Google Pixel scores last year, right after it was launched. In fact, the scores were first shared by Google during the keynote of Pixel smartphone announcement. Then we have seen such an approach when HTC announced the U11 smartphone. More recently the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus camera scores were also published sooner after the launch.

Interestingly, all of these three smartphones got the top rank from DxOMark on score-release day. Well, it didn’t happen with Galaxy Note 8 this time, and the camera experts are releasing the Note 8 camera results after over a month of the announcement. Now it seems like every next flagship is capable to stand above the other. Galaxy Note 8 is now “the best smartphone camera for zoom.” taking the a top spot shared with Apple’s iPhone 8 Plus.

Galaxy Note 8 DxOMark Scores

So iPhone 8 Plus could only carry the crown alone for a few weeks before the Note 8 results arrived. Technically speaking, if DxOMark could have a chance to try the Galaxy Note 8 prior to iPhone 8 Plus which was launched later, then Samsung’s champion would have the chance to take the spot alone for a couple of weeks.

DxOMark has noted that Galaxy Note 8’s performed really well in indoor lights as well as it one of the best autofocus on the smartphones.

Galaxy Note 8 vs iPhone 8 Plus

For now, as you read the “best smartphone camera for zoom” tag line for Galaxy Note 8, that’s because it did incredible job at DxOMark’s labs. When the experts called the 2x zoom photo from iPhone 8 Plus as and excellent shot which had, an even incredible shot at 8x zoom from Galaxy Note 8 sure would buy them.

Just in case if you wonder, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features dual rear camera setup, with a 12 MP image sensor with wide-angle and f/1.7 aperture lens. Other 12 MP sensor is equipped with a telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens, that’s 2x optical zoom. Optical Image Stabilization and phase-detection autofocus packed are part of the deal. On video recording, it can shoot 4K video at 30fps.
