The Chinese tech giant, Huawei is all set to launch its flagship with higher intelligence, as they claim, in London on October 16th. The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are the most expected devices to arrive on the day. However, another Mate 20X started appearing in recently which is supposed to be a large gaming clad from the company to launch.
We have previously seen Huawei launching its Mate-series devices in pattern that is Lite, Standard and Pro. The company also used to launch an additional premium variant of the phone in collaboration with the popular car makers, called – Porsche Design.
The same is expected this year whereas the Mate 20 Lite has already been launched during the IFA 2018. Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are still in queue to be launched on Tuesday, next week. Usually Porsche Design does not come around in speculations before launch, we’ll see what fate this model will have this year especially when Huawei has collaborated with Audi for automatic driving solution with Active Intelligence. On another hand, Huawei has not teased the Pro model before launch yet, instead we have heard about a new model Mate 20X which is supposed to be a gaming device, also has been mentioned by Huawei on Twitter.
By now, the Mate 20 and its higher-end model Mate 20 Pro have already been leaked from head to toe. Here is all what you need to know about the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 and its siblings being released in just two days.
Huawei Mate 20
Huawei Mate 20 is supposed to have 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Even though the it’s carrying company’s powerful-yet intelligent chip Kirin 980 chip, it’s a lower high-end smartphone with only 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The phone is rumored to be backed up by 4,000 mAh battery only. In fact the phone only features IP53 dust and waterproofing.
On the camera side, the Mate 20 will feature the same square-module with tri-camera. However the camera hardware will be at the lower grade and won’t match the photography skills of the Huawei P20 Pro.
Additionally the Mate 20 is expected to feature a 3.5mm audio jack. However this base model is going to feature a USB Type-C port along with an IR blaster and an old-style rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro
The prominent figure of all, the Mate 20 Pro is going to feature 6.39-inch OLED display. It will support the Quad HD+ resolution of 3120×1440 pixels across the rounded corners of the display. The Mate 20 Pro will feature a 3D face unlock (VSEL – Vertical Surface Emitting Laser) along with the front-facing camera. Hence the phone will have a wider notch unlike the Mate 20’s dot-notch.
Mate 20 Pro will reportedly have an under-display fingerprint sensor. Apparently, the leaked renders want you to believe that as they don’t show a physical sensor on the rear or on the front chin. However, one should believe that an under-display fingerprint sensor is a major element of the phone and the promotional renders must give a glimpse of that thing on the screen that we don’t see in these renders.
The square-shaped module on the back hoses the Leica engineered triple cameras setup. It’s will include 40-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens. A 20MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture telephoto lens supporting 5x optical zoom. Unlike the Huawei P20 Pro’s monochrome sensor, the third camera on Mate 20 features an 8MP color sensor but with a wide-angle lens. Mate 20 Pro’s camera will be focusing on the ultra-macro shots allowing users to go very close to subject at 2.5cm (~1-inch) only.
Mate 20 Pro will reportedly have four colors options, a green one is missing here but the three you can see – black, blue and twilight.
The Mate 20 Pro may include 6GB or 8GB RAM models with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB UFS 2.1 internal storage options. The Pro model won’t be supporting the decade old microSD card, however the company has added the memory slot to carry a smaller nanoSD cards of up to 256GB.
The Mate 20 Pro will include a large 4,200mAh battery with SuperCharge 2.0. It’s a whopping 40W fast charging that allow the Mate 20 Pro to charge up to 70% in only 30 minutes. This charger will come along with the retail box. The phone will also support high-speed wireless charging but the interesting part is that it will include support for reverse wireless charging. This will charge Freebuds 2 wirelessly through the phone as well as any device that supports a compatible wireless-charging.
This power packed Mate 20 Pro has IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and weighs little heavy with 189 grams.
Huawei Mate 20X
Huawei Mate 20X hardly came into leaks before, hence we do not know much about it. But luckily we know that it’s a large gaming phone, teased by Huawei itself on twitter.

It was the first official teaser about a specific model from the series, Huawei is about to launch officially in London on Tuesday.
Huawei’s has told that the Mate 20X will be Cooler phone and allow for Longer gaming. That’s certainly a good teaser for gamers.
Kirin 980 and Software
The only confirmed thing from the company is the 7nm Kirin 980 that will be featuring Mate 20 device, hence expect them to feature all those camera intelligence the new dual NPU unit will provide. The Mate 20 devices will be Android 9.0 Pie OS with EMUI 9.0 on top.
Back Cases for Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro

Pricing Detail
Different rumors have suggested different prices for the Mate 20 series. However most recent addition to information is that Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s will start from GBP 899 (~$1190) for the base model 6GB + 128GB model in the UK. Read some more information revealed a week ago.
Following prices are in Swiss Francs and are reportedly for retailers from distributors. So you may add $50 to $100 to make consumer price. Or you know what? just take them with a pinch of salt.
Huawei Mate 20:
- 4GB + 128GB: Fr 799 (~$810) – Expect from $850 to $900 as consumer price
Huawei Mate 20 Pro:
- 6GB + 128GB: Fr 999 (~$1010) – Expect from $1100 to $1200 as consumer price
There is not enough pricing information in speculation and what’s there, doesn’t seem to be close to reality. So just hold tight as it’s just two days ahead when the Mate 20 will come out of the curtains. We’ll keep you updated.
