OPPO Reno3 and OPPO Reno3 Pro have officially been announced in China. Both the phones come with integrated 5G connectivity whereas the Reno3 features MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 1000L SoC, the Reno3 Pro comes with the Snapdragon 765G mobile platform.
Both the phones pretty much do the same thing and go head to head with three major distinctions — the processor, the camera and the display. And there is a bonus variant of Reno3 Pro Pantone 2020.
OPPO Reno3
With the under-display fingerprint sensor, the Reno3 comes with a large 6.4-inch screen with AMOLED display panel. The display has a dew-drop notch with a 32MP front camera. There is a quad-camera setup on the back with a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, another two monochrome depth sensors — 2MP each.
The phone’s powerhouse department is handled with MediaTek’s latest flagship Dimensity 1000L. It carries an octa-core CPU configuration with four latest Cortex-A77 “Big” cores. The other four are the power-efficient Cortex-A55. The platform has the support of a 9-core Mali-G77 MC9 dedicated GPU. MediaTek has claimed it to be the “world’s fastest Sub-6GHz 5G SoC” as it can attain up to 4.7Gbps downlink and 2.5Gbps uplink.
The new chip also has an improved custom AI Processing Unit (APU 3.0). With the new chipset, OPPO has claimed, the Reno3 will perform 20% faster than the phones powered by the Cortex-A76 cores.
The Reno3 runs Android 10 and ColorOS 7 on top. The phone features 4,025 mAh battery with the support of VOOC 4.0 fast charging.
Reno3 Pricing and Availability
Available from December 31st (in China) the Reno3 will come in four colors — Purple, White, Black, and Blue. The two configurations of 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 128GB storage will cost CNY 3,399 (or ~$485) and CNY 3,699 (or ~$528) respectively.
OPPO Reno3 Pro
The Reno3 Pro features almost the same screen size as 6.4-inch, also with AMOLED display and a fingerprint sensor under the hood. Instead of the dewdrop notch, the Pro comes with a hole-punch housing an identical 32MP front camera inside. However, the Reno3 Pro’s display comes with a 90Hz refresh rate to entertain gamers. This display has a 180Hz touch detection rate while it’s complete 100% DCI-P3 compliant and comes with HDR10+ support.
Reno3 Pro has a 48MP main shooter, however, the phone also features a 13MP sensor with a telephoto lens. It supports 5x hybrid zoom including the 2x optical zoom level. In addition, the quad-camera setup includes two more units — the 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP black and white sensor.
Snapdragon 765G powers up the phone with its octa-core processor. The configuration has 1x Kryo 475 Prime, 1x Kryo 475 Gold, and 6x Kryo 475 Silver, clocked respectively at 2.4GHz, 2.2GHz, and 1.8GHz.
The phone runs Android 10 with ColorOS 7 on top and comes with a 4,025 mAh battery. It supports VOOC 4.0 with 30-watt fast charging. According to the company, it will charge the phone from 0 to 50% in 20 minutes, and to 70% in 30 minutes. Tagging with “5G experience, 4G battery life“, OPPO claims its battery will beat the capability of other 5G phones.
Reno3 Pro Pricing and Availability
Available from January 10th, the Reno3 Pro will come in four colors — Sunrise, Blue Starry Night, Moon Night Black, and Misty White. Reno3 Pro will be available in two configurations. 8GB RAM + 128GB storage for CNY 3,999 (or ~$571) and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage for CNY 4,499 (or ~$643).
OPPO Reno3 Pro Pantone
The Reno3 Pro also has a special edition, called “OPPO Reno3 Pro Pantone 2020”. This special edition has a single variant in two-tone colors, blue and white — formally dubbed Classic Blue. OPPO refers it to be the “Color of the Year 2020. The device color apart, everything else in the retail box also has the same color tone including the box itself.
With all the identical features as standard Reno3 Pro inside, Pantone 2020 will have 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It will cost CNY 4,199 (or ~$600).
