Motorola has launched two accessories to go with its new flagship: the Moto Watch 2 Fit, a fitness watch rated for up to 12 days on a charge, and the Moto Buds 2 Ultra, earbuds tuned by Bose with active noise cancelling. Both are due in stores within weeks.
The watch is the first in the Fit line to use Polar’s fitness software, and the earbuds cost €199 in Europe. Both arrived on 5 November, the same day as the Motorola Signature 27.
On the watch, the 1.85-inch OLED display sits under Gorilla Glass 3 with 2mm bezels, stays on all day if you wish, and peaks at 1,500 nits at a 60Hz refresh rate. Motorola rates the battery at up to 12 days, and the watch carries IP68 dust and water protection plus 5ATM water resistance, which covers rain, splashes and a brief workout in a pool. It tracks heart rate, SpO2, stress and menstrual cycles, recognises more than 100 workouts and can take calls.
The Polar layer adds a Running Index that follows aerobic efficiency week by week, a Daily Activity Score and Goal, Active Intensity Zones and an Energy Sources breakdown. For sleep it offers Nightly Recharge, Sleep Plus Stages and a Serene breathing mode. An Android Authority report says a voice feature called Ask Anything, answering workout questions after a “Hey Qira” prompt, is still being built and will not be there at launch. The watch comes in three Pantone colours, Stratified Sea, Pigeon and Ballerina, and in some markets it will be sold as the Moto Watch Fit 27. The same report lists a starting price of €119, while a Spanish news agency report on Motorola’s announcement gives €99, so the figure may differ by country.
The earbuds pair an 11mm dynamic driver with a smaller balanced armature driver in each bud, and use Bose SoundDesign tuning with Bose QuietControl noise cancelling and a transparency mode. Each bud has three microphones and a voice pickup unit for calls. Motorola quotes 8 hours of playback from the buds alone and 37 once the case is counted; they have IP57 protection and wireless charging.
With a compatible Motorola phone they support Dolby Atmos with head tracking and AI Live Translate, which plays translated speech in the buds. Head gestures let you nod to answer a call or shake your head to decline, and a long press on the left bud calls up Motorola’s Qira assistant, with hands-free “Hey Qira” promised in the coming months. In some markets the buds will be called the Moto Buds Ultra 27.
In the UK and Ireland, Motorola’s announcement, as carried by Tech Buzz Ireland, puts the buds at £179.99 or €199.99, sold through Motorola.com, John Lewis and Amazon. Motorola lists five regions for both products over the next few weeks: Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, North America and Asia-Pacific. It has given no dates for individual countries.
