Discord is opening up its biggest communities to web search. From 16 November 2026, every Discoverable Server gets a public web page, and by mid-December the messages posted in its public channels can show up on those pages and in search results.
Discoverable Servers are the large, open communities that anyone can join from Discord’s own directory. Private servers, DMs and group DMs are not affected, so the change only touches conversations that were already open to any member.
What goes public, and when
Discord’s announcement splits the rollout into three parts. Admin and user controls went live on 27 October. On 16 November the Server Web Pages arrive, along with automated channel summaries of active conversations. Channel messages follow in mid-December and will roll out gradually, so it may take a few weeks before they appear. Messages sent before then are not included.
Posts shown on the web do not carry the sender’s username or avatar. A server must have 1,000 or more members and be at least eight weeks old, and it also has to pass Discord’s activity and safety checks.
How to keep your messages off the web
Members can open User Settings, go to Data and Privacy and switch off “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages”. One toggle covers every Discoverable Server you belong to. It only works going forward: anything you posted while it was on stays up unless you delete it.
Server admins get their own control under Server Settings, then Web Presence. They can pick the participating channels, or pull all of them out. If an admin changes nothing, public channels stay in. Admins can also edit or turn off the channel summaries, which the member setting does not control.
Defaults differ by region
Members in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea start with sharing switched off and have to opt in. Elsewhere it starts switched on. Teen accounts are excluded completely and cannot turn the feature on until they are adults.
If you are in a large public Discord server, check that toggle before 16 November, and look at which channels your admins have left open.
