Honor 700 series opens pre-orders in China with a rear screen

Honor has opened reservations for the 700, 700 Pro and 700S in China. All three get a second screen in the camera island; prices and a launch date are still hidden.

Key points

  • Pre-orders for the Honor 700, 700 Pro and 700S are open in China.
  • All three phones have a rear screen inside the camera island.
  • Prices, specs and the launch date are still unannounced.

If you were waiting to see what the Honor 700 series looks like, the wait is partly over: Honor has started taking pre-orders in China for the Honor 700, 700 Pro and 700S. Each has a small extra display set into the rear camera block. No launch date has been given.

Nothing about price is public. Retailers are asking for a 9.9 yuan deposit to hold a place in line, and Honor’s own store pages list the phones without a sale price. Early buyers get a replacement guarantee valid for 365 days, plus one year of screen insurance that covers the front and the back.

Gizmochina, which went through Honor’s China pages and posters, reports that the official renders place the square rear screen beside two camera lenses. Honor’s teaser art uses it for clocks and little animations, and as a mini viewfinder when you shoot selfies with the rear lenses.

The hardware itself is still tipster territory. Reports point to a 6.57-inch flat OLED at 1.5K resolution, a rear panel of about 1.72 inches, a 200-megapixel main camera and a battery near 9,000mAh. All three phones have passed 3C certification with chargers up to 80W. Chip claims, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for the base model and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for the Pro, are in our earlier report on the chips.

The 700S is the least documented of the three. There is no confirmation about a global launch yet.
