Jolla Mobile has now officially confirmed that the company is going to unveil its upcoming MeeGo based OS “Sailfish” next month. According to the press-release the company is going to held an event in Helsinki, Finland on 21-22 November.
NITDroid project for Nokia N9 has been bringing Android’s latest builds to Nokia N9 since last few versions of the operating system. A few days ago the developer behind the NITDroid, @drunkdebugger showed a glimpse of the settings page from Nokia N9 presenting the latest build of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
No matter Nokia N9 and MeeGo have lost many leading individuals from the project starters, the community is still working to bring whatever they could. A recent addition for Nokia N9 users was the facility to have traffic information and automatic day-night mode in Nokia Drive.
MOLOME, a photo sharing app on Nokia’s platforms, Symbian and MeeGo has been updated to support of producing larger resolution images as well as Dropbox integration has also been added for these platforms. With Dropbox integration, users can easily sync their uploaded photos with any single device. While resolution, that was previously 600×600 pixels to share images at, is now 800×800 pixels. Nokia N9 has recently started to receive latest software update PR1.3 where Nokia officially has listed a few features namely Mail, Facebook, Twitter, minor network & connectivity improvements as well as other over 1000 quality improvements. Nokia N9 recently was heard to receive software update PR 1.3, now an official statement from Nokia’s employee over Nokia Discussions have been published about the update that comes with the version 40.2012.21-3 and will bring over 1000 quality improvements, including Mail, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as several small network and connectivity improvements.
A most popular instant messaging app “WhatsApp” does have versions for various mobile platforms leaving Nokia N9. But the MeeGo community users didn’t hold on requesting the app or starting petitions to show the demand of the app and instead has brought an unofficial application named “Wazapp” for Nokia N9. Being on initial state, Wazapp serves not each and every function but they are supposed to be upcoming in future updates.
Of course it’s not only Android Ice Cream Sandwich, that NITDroid has brought to Nokia N9. Many other things which can run on Android will now run on Nokia N9. N9 community has shown a booster light speeding out of Nokia N9 that claims to have Nokia N9 running at 1.1GHz. Well it’s not a big jump from original 1GHz of the MeeGo powered device but there may be ongoing attempts to take it even higher from 1.1GHz
