Android Pie is reportedly delayed for Nokia 8 on purpose, claims industry source

Nokia 8 Review - Display

If you are among first Nokia Android buyers, you would probably be waiting for the latest Android 9 Pie software update on your phone. You’ll be disappointed to hear that HMD is not releasing the software update to those phones – on purpose.

An industry source claimed that the HMD Global is holding the software update intentionally. The company is hoping that it will help increase the sales of newly released Nokia 8.1. PhoneArena reported on the basis of the same source that the Android 9 Pie update has even been finalized for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 as well as Nokia 8.

Nokia 8 has already been in news of being delayed for the software update, however it has been seen on Geekbench listing running Android 9. It’s worth noting here that HMD had promised to deliver Pie on Nokia 8 devices in November which is already now past.

According to source, Juho Sarvikas – the company’s CFO, who originally promised to deliver the update last month, actually had it ready in early November. However, he decided to withhold the update in hope of boosting the sales of new Nokia 8.1.

The users with Nokia 8 may have to wait for the last day of December or, may be, early January to receive Android Pie update, if the source is to be believed.
